eBook Author Case Study - eBook Writing Reaches a News Level. Self Published eBook Author Joins Kindle's Elite Million-seller List
Self published eBook author John Locke, 60, has authored and sold nine of his eBook novels through Amazon's Kindle service. Locke is now just one of only eight novelists to have sold one million digital copies
Locke is an insurance salesman from Kentucky in the USA but now he has become the first self-published author to sell one million eBooks for the Kindle electronic reader.
Locke has recently published his latest bestseller, a self-help guide titled How I Sold 1 Million eBooks in 5 Months.
John Locke self published his eBook using Amazons Direct Publishing store to sell his nine novels last year. Locke strategically priced his crime thrillers at only 99cents. As a result they soon began selling out of the Amazon eBook store.
Locke, 60, has now become the eighth writer to join bestsellers Stieg Larsson and James Patterson in the Kindle Million Club.
His most popular character is former CIA assassin Donovan Creed, "a very tough man with a weakness for very easy women". Lethal People, the first book in the series, was initially released in July 2009 as a small-run paperback. Locke then released an eBook in March 2010. Saving Rachel, a book in the Creed series, held the top spot in the Kindle Bestsellers list for three weeks and was joined by three other Locke e-books in the top 10.
The success of the Kindle is allowing independent and self published eBook authors like Locke, who has no major publishing house, or marketing campaign behind him, to out-sell the literary world's biggest names.
Writers and authors are learning how to plan, write, promote, publish and sell their eBook via online eBook writing services such as eBookAuthorAcademy.com.
eBooks International Founder, David Horne, said: "Locke has achieved a fantastic milestone in selling over one million eBooks. This is just one of many stories of independent authors who are finding that self publishing can be a better option for their eBook. We have a network of self published authors who are now finding that through self-education on how to write and publish their own eBook are being able to live their dream of making a living from writing."
Another well know example of a self published eBook author who became very wealthy was Amanda Hocking. Hocking published eBooks from Minnesota and then signed a $2m deal with St Martin's Press in New York to write a four-book series in the young-adult paranormal genre.
eBook writing is now becoming one of the fastest ways to make money online and acheive what was once a near most impossible goal of becoming a successfully self published author.
