Writing Tips - 12 Tips For Writing a Best Selling Non fiction Sports eBook

    12 Tips For Writing a Best-Selling Non-fiction Sports eBook

I have followed the success of non-fiction sports eBook authors over the years primarily due to the fact that our company "eBooks International" owns the SportseBooks.com online store. As a result, I have been able to identify and track those eBooks that do very well.

As an author of an eBook series I was keen to identify what qualities these successful eBooks had compared to those which didn't sell well were missing.

By making sure that your next Sports eBook meets these ten qualities, you will increase your chances of producing a top selling eBook.

Authors of These Successful Non-fiction Sports eBooks:

    1.     Created eBooks that could be read on all devices!

In the near future we will be able to read one eBook on all devices without worrying about DRM or different formats. Until we get to that point you will want to create your eBook in PDF, ePub and any other required format.

    2.     Write to satisfy the reader

The majority of best selling sports eBooks are written from the reader's perspective. People buy non-fiction eBooks to solve a problem, achieve a goal or satisfy a want or need. Author's who are able to connect with the reader on their level will be more likely to establish a relationship with that reader.

    3.     Were experts in their field and knew their topic well

The authors that were successful were those that possessed first hand knowledge and experience on their subject matter. One increasingly popular, and highly controversial, method in producing an eBook is to use a ghostwriter. Unfortunately, these ghostwriters are not experts on the subject matter and are hired by online marketers who have identified a potentially profitable niche.  It is easy to pick out the eBooks that are written by ghostwriters. Most of the content can be found verbatim on the internet in various forms.

    4.     Chose a Niche Topic and provided Unique Information

This is one of the most important aspects for all non-fiction authors to acknowledge. You must be different and provide a unique point of view from your competitors. You will find that marketing your eBook will be a lot easier if you a unique point of view or are providing the reader with advice to help solve their problem that no other eBook has been able to do.

    5.     Were able to back-up their unique points

You will gain greater credibility if you can back-up your points with facts and statistics.

    6.     Provided examples

Successful non-fiction authors provide examples to further clarify the main points. These authors know that it is easier to learn when provided with an example.  The use of photos is another way to provide a “visual” example to demonstrate key points.

    7.     Were able to personalise their eBook

Authors who were able to personalise their eBooks and writing style have been more successful. Don't write your eBook like a textbook, instead, write your eBook as if you were talking directly to the person who is reading it.

    8.     Made their eBooks easy to follow and understand

Leave your ego behind! Unfortunately, some authors believe that using “big” words will help increase their credibility and status as an expert. Authors need to realise that the majority of their readers are not experts and therefore it is vital that writes on the level of their reader. Readers want answers, not big fancy words or chunks of text that they cannot understand.

    9.     Sought the assistance of a professional to proofread and edit their eBook

The great thing about self-publishing is that it has created the opportunity for anyone to write an eBook. The most common issue arising from self-published eBooks is the lack of quality when it comes to spelling, grammar and structure. Remember, writing an article for your website or blog is different from writing an eBook. You have a bit more freedom with articles.

    10.  Size does matter!

eBooks that take a long time to download are very annoying for the consumer. Successful authors strive keep the file size small. One of the major issues has to do with adding too many photos or images to an eBook. Be sure to compress all images and keep the file size in mind when creating your eBook.

    11.  Produce professional and attention grabbing eBook Covers

People will judge your eBook by its cover. The best selling eBooks all have great covers. These covers have been professionally designed and created to help sell the eBook.

    12.  Tick all the boxes for a great title

You will find a number of articles and worksheets in our Academy that are solely focused on helping you to create a great title for your eBook. There are multiple techniques used, but all achieve the same goal in evoking emotion with the reader and forcing them to buy the eBook otherwise they will feel like they are missing out on the information that could help solve their problem.

    Conclusion:

You can increase your chances of producing a top selling eBook if you keep the above points in mind. Always keep your reader in mind when writing!

Remember that you don't have to re-invent the wheel! Learn from those successful authors by analysing their writing style, eBook covers, sales copy, call to action, title and how they market their eBook on the internet.
