Why Non-fiction eBook Authors Must Write to Sell!

Why Non-fiction eBook Authors Must Write to Sell!

Have you written your eBook to sell? That is; is your eBook worth buying? Does it meet the fundamental elements to be considered for a best-selling eBook?

Planning your eBook is essential for success. A well thought out and structured plan will save you time and money in the long run. If you have a plan you will be more likely to stay on track and not deviate with useless material that will add very little value to your eBook.

You must plan and then write your eBook so it will sell.

And That Involves Addressing the Following Writing Fundamentals for Success:

What Are Your Goals and Objectives?

This is a key stage of planning. It is basically establishing if there is a market for your eBook and that if there is, how you can best provide the readers with what they want?

As a Result You Should Address the Following Questions:

    1. Why are you writing the book?

    2. What is the size of your target market?

    3. What do you want readers to experience while reading it?

    4. How do you want them to feel after reading your eBook?

    5. What unique knowledge do you want then to gain?

    6. What action will they be required to take upon completing your eBook?

    7. Will your eBook motivate them into action?

    8. Are you providing them with unique problem solving knowledge or just trying to persuade them into action?

Know Your Ideal Reader and Target Audience

In order to write directly to your ideal reader, you first have to identify who they are and why they would buy your eBook. We have covered this topic of “identifying your target audience” in depth in our planning and marketing sections so I won't repeat all that information again here.

The key point that was not mentioned in those articles, is that you should not try to reach more than one audience with your eBook. There may cases where an eBook can be read from more than one audience, but it is less common.

For example, with my “College Help Guide,” my primary audience was students wishing to go to college in the USA. The secondary audience was parents of college-bound students, but that was not who I directed the writing towards. If I tried to write to both then I would have just confused the reader.

Let the Benefits of Your eBook Sell Your eBook!

In your title and eBook description, you must tell the reader how your eBook will be of benefit to them.

In my “eBook Marketing Online - For Maximum Exposure and Profit” eBook, I explained how using the tips, techniques and strategies from my eBook would benefit them. This is a great way to start as it provides the reader with logic and reasoning behind the content and what the end result will be.

Let Your Content Sell Your eBook!
On your sales page outline your major topics, the components or concepts of each topic and how it will benefit the reader. If the reader can see the content of the eBook and what they will learn, then they will be more likely to buy. Just including chapter titles in not sufficient to sell your eBook.

    Stay on Message!
You need to be able to deliver on what you promise in the title and eBook description. This means that you stay on message and engage your readers in the most effective way. You may want to provide real life examples to back-up your facts. You will need unique material to help distinguish your eBook from related eBooks already on the market.

    Conclusion:

You must learn to “Write to Sell.”  If you plan on selling your eBooks or making money as an author, then you need to be sure of who you are writing the eBook for. You must get in the minds of your “ideal customer” and see if what you are writing is worth paying for.

If you feel uncomfortable selling yourself, or building your personal brand, then seek assistance as this is a vital and required component if you wish to become a successful self-published author. There is no place for shyness and modesty when it comes to self-publishing.
