Two Methods to Help You Find a Title For Your eBook
eBook Titles
One of the most difficult and also most important tasks in producing your eBook is choosing a title. Everyone knows how important it is to have a great title as it will often have a strong influence on the success of catching the viewers' attention.
You will want to choose a title that is short yet contains all the key elements that will help to sell your eBook. There are some rules and guidelines for selecting a title so be sure to read that article in our library discussing these rules.
The common problem facing first time authors is how to choose a great title that they are happy to put on the cover of their eBook.
Two Ways That I Often Suggest For Clients is to Start Their Process in Finding a Title is To:
Method 1 – Visit Online and Offline Bookstores
This is a simple method that has always provided the author with guidance and a place to start their search. Visit book stores located in your area and take a notepad with you so you can jot down examples of titles that catch your attention, which stand out from the rest, or you believe is one that you would like to model your own title after.
Begin by starting in the section that is related to your niche topic. For example; if you wrote a romance novel then head to that section for ideas. You will also want to take note of words within a title and how you reacted to those words. Did they intrigue you? Were they words that forced you to pick up the book?
Method 2 - Look Within Your eBook for Your Title:
This simple technique will often guide you to finding your title as you identify the main points that you are trying to get across to the reader. I will often print out my manuscript for a new eBook as I like to write all over it, make notes and corrections and then go back and make changes on my master copy.
When you have finished with your manuscript print it out and read through each chapter highlighting all of your key points, interesting ideas or unique phrases.
Your title must be unique and standout from all the other common titles in the marketplace.
From here you can let your creative talents take over and create titles based on these highlighted phrases.
When I am going through the process for selecting a title for my eBook, I always place high priority on the “key words” that are associated with my target market.
For example; the eBook I wrote on eBook marketing was titled “eBook Marketing Online - For Maximum Exposure and Profit.” I wanted to get “eBook Marketing Online” in to the title as this explained exactly what the eBook was about and these words are also highly searched for in Google. The subtitle of “For Maximum Exposure and Profit” just emphasized the end goal for eBook marketing.
Start with these two methods and you will be sure to have several pages of ideas, key words, power words, thought evoking words, unique words and phrases that you can modify to create a title that is unique to your eBook but still meets all the key requirements in building a great title.
