How To Take Payments For Your eBook? Set up Your Own or Go Through a Retailer.
What is the Transaction Process for the Sale of Your eBook to Your Customer? What payment system will you use for processing orders? You may choose just one method or multiple methods. This will also depend on the commissions each payment processor takes out.
The most common one is Paypal but many still like to use Clickbank. The only issue with Clickbank is that you have to pay an upfront fee (currently $49.00) for each new eBook you list with them.
Example Payment Processors:
1. Paypal
2. Worldpay
3. 2checkout
4. Clickbank
What is Your Return Policy?
For eBooks sold via most online retailers there is no refund given. As eBooks are digital files the customer will always have the copy of your eBook. Many dishonest customers will buy your eBook, save it to their computer and then claim a refund.
This is the one process associated with Clickbank that I do not agree with as I know that there are many customers who will habitually do this. Basically they know how to get eBooks for free which is where the author loses out.
What After-sale Support Will You Offer Customers?
Sometimes you will receive emails from customers who claim they did not receive their eBook after purchase. Which I know can happen as it did for me when I first bought my first eBook. The eBook was supposed to be sent to me via an email link but the seller did not properly set-up his automated systems to do this. I was quite unhappy and so will be your customers if they experience the same issue.
Sometimes they will find that the format you sell your eBook in may not be compatible to their reading device. So try to solve this problem on your sales page by clearly stating the format that they are purchasing. You will need to work this “time cost” into your budget.
Do You Have a System for Customer Feedback?
This is vital if you wish to establish a connection between you and your customer. This will also be a way you can receive feedback for your eBook that you may need to address.
