20 Tips to Help You Create a Successful Email Campaign

    Email Marketing Tips

Have you heard the term “email deliverability?” I first came across this term when searching for information I needed for my very first email marketing campaign. I knew that “spamming” was not the way to go if I wanted to establish myself as a respected author and online marketer so I had to find ways to increase the chances of getting my emails opened by those who signed up for my free newsletter.

Even though someone has voluntarily signed up for your free emails doesn't guarantee that your emails will reach them as intended or that they will open them.

Below I have outlined some valuable tips on ensuring that you increase the chance of the intended reader receiving your emails. These tips also ensure the overall success of your email campaign.

Tips for a Successful Email Campaign:

    1. Use a reputable auto responder

    2. Clearly state who the emails are coming from

    3. Send out emails weekly, rather than monthly

    4. Never send an email to someone who hasn't signed up

    5. Always provide an easy to follow sign-up form

    6. Provide an option for readers to “opt-out”

    7. Make sure all your sign-ups are clear and are double opt in

    8. Remove emails from your mailing list that are regularly bouncing back

    9. Don't bombard your reader with useless emails

    10. Don't try to over-sell your reader

    11. Test all links in your emails to make sure they are working properly

    12. Create an email that is appealing on the eye

    13. Forget the fancy graphics or flashing promos

    14. Don't use spam words and phrases in your email

    15. Don't include too many images in your email as some email filters will flag it

    16. Don't use a similar colour for your text as the background it is on as some filters will see that as trying to

    hide text

    17. Don't use images that are too large

    18. Don't send attachments that are too large

    19. Include free reports in your emails

    20. Make sure the content of the email is what the subscriber signed up to receive.
